Thank you for booking an activity at Lee Valley White Water Centre, we can’t wait for you to join us on the water! Here you’ll find specific information relating to your booking, so please ensure you read this carefully so you come fully prepared for your day.

Essential information

White water rafting is an extreme sport. While navigating the course you could well take a tumble into grade 4 rapids, so be prepared. Our bank safety team will be on hand to assist with a rescue and help you back aboard your raft.

Minimum age

14 years

Groups

We always aim to keep groups together, however the only way to ensure your group will not get split up is to charter a whole raft.

Clothing information

Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and boots will be provided. If you’d prefer to wear your own boots and/or wetsuit, we’ll have to check they’re suitable for the activity, but please feel free to bring them along. Open toe shoes such as sandals are unsuitable for this activity.

During your rafting experience you’ll need to remove jewellery and any items of value. To avoid risk of loss or damage please leave valuables at home.

Activity assessment

Prior to going on the white water, all rafters will need to successfully complete the Activity Assessment.

Essential information

Sessions are an hour and a half and include a short swim test which you must successfully complete to partake in the activity.

Hydrospeeding, Hot Dog, Tubing sessions are very physical activities, which will require a reasonable level of fitness.

Minimum age

12 years

Clothing information

Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and boots will be provided. If you’d prefer to wear your own boots and/or wetsuit, we’ll have to check they’re suitable for the activity, but please feel free to bring them along.

During your experience you’ll need to remove jewellery and any items of value. To avoid risk of loss or damage please leave valuables at home.

Essential information

You also need to be sober so please save the celebratory toast to after your activity.

Minimum age

14 years

Please note you need to be at least 18 years to consume alcohol - if anyone in your party is not over 18 a soft drink substitute will be provided.

If you've purchased a gift voucher please ensure you have read our Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale and our Gift Voucher Conditions of Use. 

If you’ve chosen for your voucher to be sent by post it'll be sent to the delivery address provided, virtual gift vouchers will be emailed to the address provided.

If you’re not taking part in the activity with the recipient(s) why not come and watch the action from our café bar’s terrace as they tackle the rapids.

Essential information

Cost includes kayak or sup board, paddle and buoyancy aid. 

Minimum age

8 years

Children aged between 8 - 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the water and children 12 -16 must be supervised by an adult on the bank.

For U Canoe, adult supervision on the water is not necessary but anyone ages 8-16 requires an adult on site

Clothing information

You may wear your own clothes however please note you must wear enclosed shoes for this activity. Wetsuits and towels are available to hire from the centre for an additional fee of £5.

Members

Please register at reception on arrival. If you’ve booked a session on the Legacy Loop or Olympic Course, this will start and end at the times you have booked.

Equipment and wetsuits are not provide or those paddling our courses but if you wish you can hire this at the centre for an additional fee. If you choose to bring your own equipment we'll need to check it is suitable for the activity.

Assessments

Please note you must have previous white water kayaking experience to take our assessments, as they are not aimed at beginner paddlers.

Equipment and wetsuits are not included in our assessments. You can bring your own, however we'll need to check that it is suitable for the activity, or you may hire kit from the centre for an additional fee.

You may use your own paddling equipment, however we'll need to check its suitability or you can borrow equipment free of charge from the centre.

Minimum age

4 week programme: 16+

Intensive weekend: 18+

Junior programme: 8-16

Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and boots are included in the course fee. If you’d prefer to wear your own boots and/or wetsuit, we’ll have to check they’re suitable for the activity, but please feel free to bring them along. Open toe shoes such as sandals are unsuitable for this activity.

Essential information

Before taking part in our open water swimming sessions you'll need to have completed our open water swimming assessment. If it's your first swim with us you'll just need to book your assessment. Once you've passed our assessment you'll be able to join in the rest of the session. 

Minimum age

16 years

Clothing information

You may wear your own wetsuit or swim wear during these sessions. Wetsuits are not compulsory providing the water temperature is at a suitable level - to find out the water temperature you can call our customer service team on 03000 030 616 on the day. If you require a wetsuit these can be hired from the centre for an additional £5.
