Canoeing and Kayaking trips

Once you're comfortable paddling in a sheltered water environment it's time to tackle the rivers and lakes of natural white water. Our expert coaches will guide you along the way as you paddle down the rapids of carefully selected rivers around the UK.
Lee Valley White Water Centre is currently taking bookings for trips over the winter months to a variety of different locations around the UK.
Please note these trips take place offsite and the location of these trips are water level dependant.

*Please note equipment hire is available through Above & Below not Lee Valley White Water Centre. We will not be able to transport this equipment to the location.
Suitable for Intermediate
If you are looking to kayak wild over the winter months then this is the trip for you! You'll be guided on some of the UK’s natural classic rivers as well as receive high quality coaching on wild water.
Who’s this for
The trip is for paddlers kayaking on Class 2 water and above, looking to improve on their confidence and skill or a paddler looking for their next challenge on wild water. We'll support and develop how you are paddling and look at techniques to help improve confidence, as well as generally having an amazing time on the water.*
*Please note that you must be signed off on the Legacy Loop to attend this trip
Trip breakdown and dates
Location: We will be using some of UK’s best classic kayaking locations. The exact venues and rivers will be dependent on the conditions at the time.

Support: Two coaches will provide an excellent learning environment allowing for a great level of individual coaching and feedback.
Friday - Optional
We will meet at a prearranged time and destination to discuss what you wish to achieve over the next couple of days on the water. This will help us tailor coaching to you.
Saturday approximately 08:00 – 16:00
We will meet at a prearranged time and destination. The boats will be loaded and head to the water for the day. You will be guided and coached on the water, and receive feedback throughout the day. We will return to the prearranged destination at the end of the day.
Sunday approximately 08:00 – 16:00
We will meet at a prearranged time and location, and head back to the water for the day. At the end of the day, we will revisit your individual aims for the trip and you will receive feedback. This will help you create an action plan on ways you can progress your kayaking.
This is a example itinerary. You'll be emailed a more detailed itinerary nearer the date.
You need to bring:
Appropriate clothing for being on a river, and for the weather forecast.
Change of clothes once you are off the river.
- Spray deck
- Feel free to bring any safety and rescue equipment you usually carry, however, this is not essential as the coaches will be carrying all the necessary equipment to keep you safe on the water
Food and drink to keep you going throughout the day (and a dry way of carrying this in your kayak)
It is likely to be cold, so you might want to carry a hot drink and snacks.

Lee Valley White Water Centre will endeavour to run all offsite trips as planned. In the event of cancelling of any trip due to dangerous and/or unsuitable conditions, we will notify the customer of the cancellation as soon as possible. In the event of Lee Valley White Water Centre having to make a cancellation customers will be offered either:
- Full refund of the fee paid; or
- Transfer to another trip
