BC UKCC Coaching Awards

Got a passion for paddlesports? For people looking to start their pathway into coaching paddlesport or further their qualifications, Lee Valley White Water Centre offers you the opportunity to take the BC UKCC coaching awards.

There are four levels of coaching awards that you can take which offer structure and diversity in supporting coaches’ progression. These awards have been developed by British Canoeing to meet the needs of paddlesport coaches by offering a variety of development options for both recreational and competition coaches. We currently offer both Level 1 and Level 2 coaching awards but if you wish to undertake the Level 3 award our links with British Canoeing can help you find the relevant course.

You’ll need to have completed your BC Foundation Safety and Rescue Training to take these awards and you’ll also need to have registered a Coach Registration (CR) form with British Canoeing – please allow a minimum of two weeks for this.

Before choosing to take these awards please check that you meet the requirements as outlined by British Canoeing. To find out individual requirements for each award please visit the British Canoeing website:

During this four day course you’ll develop your technical understanding and coaching skills so you’ll be able to give safe and enjoyable paddlesport sessions to others. On achieving this award you’ll be able to coach paddlers who are new to the sport and help run taster sessions.

This is a four day course which will run 09:00 - 17:00.

BC UKCC Level 2 Coaching Award

Over the four days, this award will introduce the skills and coaching behaviours you'll need for developing performance through progressive coaching. You'll be trained and assessed to work independently in planning, delivery and review aspects of progressive and development sessions. If you're looking to become qualified in coaching paddlers of any discipline then this award is for you! You can choose to take this in either a bank-based or a boat-based award and is certificated as either a single discipline (canoe or kayak) or dual discipline (canoe and kayak).

This is a four day course which will run 09:00 - 17:00.
